New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended Hanukkah greetings to Jewish people in India and around the world on December 7.
President Droupadi Murmu wished to her Israeli counterpart Isaac Herzog and the people of there.
Posting on the social media platform X, President Murmu wrote in English and Hebrew:
"Chag Hanukkah Sameach President @Isaac_Herzog ! Wishing you and the people of Israel a Hanukkah filled with hope and brightness.
חג חנוכה שמח לכבוד הנשיא @Isaac_Herzog
מאחלת לך ולכל עם ישראל חג חנוכה שמח מלא אור ותקווה."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 7 extended Hanukkah greetings to Jewish people in India and around the world.
He also tagged his post to his Israeli Counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu.
While extending greetings, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote in English and Hebrew on X:
“Hanukkah Sameach! I extend my warmest greetings to our Jewish friends in India and around the world on the occasion of Hanukkah. May this festival bring peace, hope and brightness in everybody's lives. @netanyahu”

Hanukkah is a Jewish festival, which means "dedication".
Hanukkah reaffirms the ideals of Judaism and commemorates in particular the rededication of the Second Temple of Jerusalem by the lighting of candles on each day of the festival.
While the Israel is facing critical situation these day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had received a telephone call on October 10, 2023 from the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.
During the talks, Prime Minister expressed deep condolences and sympathy for those killed and wounded as a result of the terrorist attacks in Israel and conveyed that people of India stand in solidarity with Israel in this difficult hour.
Mr. Modi reiterated that India strongly and unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the issue of safety and security of Indian citizens in Israel during the talks. Prime Minister Netanyahu assured of full cooperation and support.
They also promised to remain in close touch at that time during telephonic talks.
