New Delhi: On December 16, the Sultan of Oman His Majesty Haitham bin Tarik held discussions with the Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in the nation capital, New Delhi.

Foreign Ministry of Oman today said His Majesty, the Sultan of Oman held a meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of India His Excellency Narendra Modi at the Hyderabad Palace in the Indian capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took the social Media platform X and wrote about his meeting with the Sultan of Oman in English and Arabic: 

"Had an excellent meeting with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman. Reviewing the full range of bilateral ties, we discussed ways to deepen cooperation in commerce, culture, defence, innovation and more."

The meeting was attended by members of the official Omani delegation: 

Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court His Highness Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Royal Office General Sultan Mohammed Al Nomani, Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Head of the Private Office Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi.

Senior Indian officials were also present during the meeting. 

His Majesty the Sultan of Oman and the Prime Minister of India also held a separate private meeting.

"His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik expressed his gratitude to India for extending an invitation to the Sultanate to participate in the G20 as a special guest country. He also thanked India for the successful organisation of the G20 Summit and two editions of the Voice of Global South Summit, acknowledging India's role in facilitating a platform for global cooperation and discussions on critical international issues. His Majesty commended India and Prime Minister Modi for the remarkable achievement of India’s G20 Presidency in bringing together and uniting countries with diverse worldviews and priorities to culminate in the adoption of the landmark New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration", Foreign Ministry of Oman said.

"The following Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) and Agreements were signed and exchanged during between India and Oman":

1. MoU in the field of culture between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, and the Government of the Republic of India represented by the Ministry of Culture.

2. MoU in the field of information technology between the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Republic Of India.

3. MoU on cooperation in the exchange of intelligence related to money laundering, associated predicate offences and 

terrorism financing between Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and National Centre for Financial Information (FNCI).

4. Agreement concerning the gainful employment of accompanying persons of official employees between the Government of Sultanate of Oman and the Government of Republic of India

5. MoU on the establishment of the ICCR Chair of Indian Studies-Hindi Language between Dhofar University and the Indian 

Council For Cultural Relations.

6. Heads of Terms for Investment in Oman India Joint Investment Fund (OIJIF-III) to be entered between Oman Investment 

Authority (OIA) and State Bank of India (SBI).

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the warm and generous hospitality of the 

Government and the people of India. His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik also extended a cordial invitation to Prime Minister Modi to visit the Sultanate of Oman.

They also expressed their confidence in the ample scope for the further development of bilateral relations.
