Ranchi: Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs V. Muraleedharan today laid the foundation stone for the building of Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand and National President Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Tribe Morcha (BJP S.T. Morcha) Samir Oraon, Members of Parliament Rajya Sabha from Jharkhand Deepak Prakash, Aditya Sahu, former Member of Parliament Mahesh Poddar and Members of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly Navin Jaiswal and Sammari Lal were also present at the foundation stone laying ceremony.
Taking social media site X (formerly known as Twitter), MoS V. Muraleedharan wrote, "Happy to lay the foundation stone for the new Regional Passport Office Complex in Ranchi. Inspired by @narendramodi ji's vision of enhancing Ease of Living for citizens, this building would be designed as state of the art,fully integrated, accessible & disabled-friendly complex."
"Passport services delivery process is very efficient today. Extensive usage of mPassport Seva Mobile App, mPassport Police App, DigiLocker, and ‘apply from anywhere' scheme have further eased application process. We continue to improvise the system", Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs V. Muraleedharan said on X.
According to a press release by the Indian foreign ministry, this RPO building complex is being constructed over an area of two acres of land provided by the State Government. The project is executed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) and is expected to be completed in 2024. The office building of RPO would also house the Protectorate of Emigrants Office (PoE). The project includes residential buildings.
Indian foreign ministry further said that the RPO office building would be laced with state of the art technology and facilities that would further allow Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to provide passport and related services to citizens in a timely, reliable, accessible, transparent and efficient manner and to fulfill Prime Minister’s vision of "Ease of Living”.
