New Delhi: As the two nations are celebrating the 50 years of diplomatic ties on Sunday (December 10), Prime Minister

Narendra Modi has conveyed his warm greetings to President of Republic of Korea (ROK) Yoon Suk Yeol.

Underlining the journey of mutual respect, shared values and growing partnerships, Prime Minister Modi said he is looking

forward to work closely with Yoon Suk Yeol to deepen and expand the Special Strategic Partnership.

Taking social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote on December 10:

"We are celebrating 50 years of establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Republic of Korea today. It has been a journey of mutual respect, shared values and growing partnerships. I extend warm wishes to @President_KR Yoon Suk Yeol and look forward to working closely with him to deepen and expand our Special Strategic Partnership."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings and good wishes to the ROK President Yoon Suk-yeol on assuming office as President on May 10 in 2022.

In a post on X,Prime Minister had said:

"I extend my heartfelt greetings and good wishes to ROK President @sukyeol__yoon as he commences his term in office today. I look forward to meeting him soon and working together to further strengthen and enrich the India-ROK ties."

On the sidelines of G20 Summit in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol on 10 September 2023.

Then, President Yoon Suk Yeol had congratulated Prime Minister on India's G20 Presidency and on the success of Chandrayaan mission.

India-Republic of Korea established their diplomatic relations on 10 December 1973. Consular relations were established in

1962.

Both countries formed a "Strategic Partnership" in year 2010, which was elevated to "Special Strategic Partnership" in year 2015 during the State Visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Seoul.
