New Delhi: On November 8, India has concurrently accredited Mr. Sandeep Chakravorty who is presently Ambassador of India to the Republic of Indonesia, as the next Ambassador of India to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, with residence in Jakarta. While Mr. Rajesh Uike who is presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Tajikistan.
Mr. Sandeep Chakravorty and Mr. Rajesh Uike are expected to take up the assignment shortly, MEA said in its statements on November 8.
About Sandeep Chakravorty and Rajesh Uike:
Sandeep Chakravorty is the Indian Forest Service Officers of 1996 batch while Rajesh Uike is the Indian Forest Service Officers of 2006 batch.
Mr. Chakravorty holds a master's degree in Advanced Studies in International & European Security from Geneva University, a master's degree in Sociology and he is also a post graduate in Forestry Management.
According to the Embassy of India in Jakarta, before joining India's diplomatic service in 1996 Mr. Chakravorty worked for more than five years on soil, water and forest conservation projects with non-profit organizations. He has an abiding interest in forest conservation, ecology, mangroves and sustainability issues. He is at present President of the Alumni Association of the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, his alma mater.
Embassy of India in Jakarta further mentioned his first effort at writing has been compiling an "International Relations & Diplomacy Primer" meant as an easy read for those interested in global affairs, international relations and diplomacy. He is now giving final touches to a book on his personal adventures which may be published in 2024.
Sandeep Chakravorty has a professional career spanning more than three decades. He was till recently Joint Secretary (Europe West) at the Ministry of External Affairs, responsible for 13 bilateral relations in Europe and the EU. He has been Consul General of India in New York City and India's Ambassador to Peru and Bolivia. Earlier he had been India’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Bangladesh. He has also served in India's diplomatic missions in Spain and Colombia.
Rajesh Uike is presently Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs. He has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Tajikistan. A career diplomat from the 2006 batch of the Indian Foreign Service Gina Uika is married to Mr. Rajesh Uike.
