New Delhi: ​The President of the Republic of Kenya Dr. William Samoei Ruto will pay a State visit to India from 4-6 December. He will visit here at the invitation of the President Droupadi Murmu of India.

Mr. Ruto will be accompanied by a high-level official delegation.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India It will be the President William Ruto's first visit to India in his present capacity.

During his visit to India, the President Ruto will meet with his Indian counterpart Murmu.

During his three-day visit, he will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan on December 5.

President Ruto will also hold detailed discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A State Banquet will be hosted by the President in honour of President Ruto.

In the national capital, President Ruto will also participate in a business and investment event.

"A Presidential visit from Kenya is taking place after a period of over 6 years and is expected to strengthen and invigorate the bilateral relations between the two countries", MEA said on December 2 in the press release.

India and Kenya are maritime neighbours. The contemporary ties between India and Kenya have now evolved into a robust and multi-faceted partnership, marked by regular high-level visits, increasing trade and investment as well as extensive people to people contacts.

The State visit of PM Narendra Modi to Kenya on 10-11 July 2016 gave a new impetus to bilateral partnership. PM Narendra Modi and President Uhuru Kenyatta discussed a wide range of bilateral issues.
