New Delhi: President of the Republic of Kenya Dr. William Samoei Ruto met with External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Managing Director of India Exim Bank on December 4. 

Mr Ruto is on a state visit to India from 4-6 December. He arrived here accompanied by a high-level official delegation, at the invitation of the President of India Droupadi Murmu.

Kenya and India share deep historical ties that date back to the 18th century. We have built robust partnerships in health, agriculture, ICT and many other sectors for the development and advancement of both nations, President Ruto said.

Taking X, EAM Jaishankar also posted about his meeting with President Ruto:

"Honored to call on Kenyan President @WilliamsRuto at the start of his State Visit. Appreciated his perspectives on the concerns of the Global South. Valued his insights for the further strengthening of our bilateral ties."

President of the Republic of Kenya Dr. William Samoei Ruto arrived in New Delhi on December 4. This is his maiden visit to India since the assumption of office of President. He was received by Minister of State (MoS) in Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in Government of India Bhagwanth Khuba at the airport.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi posted on X:

"Warm welcome to President @WilliamsRuto of Kenya as he arrives in New Delhi on a State Visit. This is his maiden visit to 🇮🇳 since the assumption of office of President. Received by MoS @dcpc2017 & @mnreindia, @bhagwantkhuba at the airport. Substantive engagements to further strengthen 🇮🇳-🇰🇪 bilateral relations await."

In the national capital, President Ruto will also participate in a business and investment event.

President of the Republic of Kenya Dr. William Samoei Ruto met the Managing Director of India Exim Bank Harsha Bangari on December 4.

President Ruto also welcomed India Exim Bank, who is going to set up its regional headquarters in Nairobi to serve the East Africa region.

Posting on X, President Ruto wrote: 

"We welcome @IndiaEximBank, who are going to set up their regional headquarters in Nairobi to serve the East Africa region."

Investment is a key enabler of Kenya's social and economic development. Attracting and retaining foreign investment from across the world is integral to the Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda, President Ruto said on December 4.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India, it is the President William Ruto's first visit to India in his present capacity. 

President William Ruto also met with the CEO of Procorp Enertech Private Limited Dr. Srinivasa Raju Gannavarapu, who has shown interest in investing in LREB counties.

President William Ruto further said: "Good infrastructure facilitates the expansion of opportunities and economic growth. The Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) have an ambitious plan to link their counties and bring the benefits of connectedness to the people by building the roads that will create prosperity for this and future generations."

During his visit to India, the President Ruto will meet with his Indian counterpart Murmu. 

During his three-day visit, he will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan on December 5.

President Ruto will also hold detailed discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A State Banquet will be hosted by the President in honour of President Ruto.

"A Presidential visit from Kenya is taking place after a period of over 6 years and is expected to strengthen and invigorate the bilateral relations between the two countries", MEA said on December 2 in the press release.
