New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Chancellor of Germany Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz a speedy recovery from Covid-19 on December 18.

The Prime Minister further said he prays for good health and well-being for him.

Chancellor of Germany Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz said he tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday (December 18).

Chancellor of Germany posted on X on December 18 about his Covid-19 test in German language: 

"Das ist eindeutig keine Überraschung, über die ich mich freue. Meine aktuellen Covid-19-Tests zeigen zwei Striche. Bei wenig Symptomen baue ich auf einen milden Verlauf und arbeite erstmal nur vom Schreibtisch aus."

While the Prime Minister on December 18 wrote on X:

"My friend Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz, wishing you a speedy recovery from COVID-19. I pray for good health and well-being."

India is one of the first countries to end the state of war with post-war Germany in 1951 and amongst the first countries to recognize the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG). 

The relationship, based on common values of democracy and rule of law has strengthened significantly in the 1990s following India's economic liberalization and the end of Cold War. In the last decade, both political and economic interaction between and Germany has enhanced significantly. 

Today, Germany is amongst India's most  important partners both bilaterally and in the global context.
