Dubai: On the sidelines of the COP 28 Summit in Dubai, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with President of Israel Isaac Herzog on December 1.
During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on the on-going Israel-Hamas conflict in the region.
Posting on X, the Prime Minister wrote:
"Had a very productive meeting with President @Isaac_Herzog of Israel earlier today. Our talks covered a wide range of global and bilateral issues."
On December 1, the President of Israel also took X to post in Hebrew and English:
"This morning at the @COP28_UAE Conference I met dozens of leaders from around the world. I spoke with them about how Hamas blatantly violates the ceasefire agreements, and repeated again and again the demand to place the release of the hostages at the very top of the international community’s agenda, alongside respect for the right of the State of Israel to defend itself."
The Prime Minister alsy expressed his condolences on the loss of lives in the October 7 terror attacks and welcomed the release of hostages.
The Embassy of Israel in India wrote on X:
"Israeli president @Isaac_Herzog met with PM @narendramodi at the @COP28_UAE along with other world leaders. PM Modi offered his condolences, condemning the #Oct7 terror attack by Hamas and welcomed the release of hostages. President Herzog also updated about the current situation and how Hamas is violating the ceasefire agreements."
The Prime Minister reiterated the need for continued and safe delivery of humanitarian aid for the affected population, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a press release on December 1.

He emphasized on India’s support for a two state solution and early and durable resolution of Israel-Palestine issue through dialogue and diplomacy."

The President of Israel Herzog congratulated Prime Minister on the success of India's G20 Presidency and welcomed the launch of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.
