Japan: Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs of India V. Muraleedharan is in Japan. His visit to Japan started on November 8.

He is on a three-day visit to Japan from November 8 to 10.

MoS Muraleedharan had posted on X on November 8: "Reached Tokyo this morning. Look forward to my engagements including interaction with the Indian community. India and Japan cherish a Special Strategic and Global Partnership rooted in ancient historical ties and shared values."

The Embassy of India in Japan and Republic of Marshall Islands had also posted on November 8 on X in Japanese language after reaching the MoS there.

On November 9, MoS unveiled the bust of great Indian poet and philosopher Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at Otani University in Kyoto, Japan. MoS said that the bust of Gurudev is a befitting gift from India, as next year marks 100th anniversary of Gurudev's visit to the University.

During his visit, MoS held meetings with Ministers, business leaders, academia and members of the Indian diaspora there.

MoS held a productive meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Iwao Horii on strengthening our Special Strategic and Global Partnership which spans cooperation in a wide range of sectors on November 8.

On November 8, MoS also held a fruitful interaction with leaders of Japanese businesses and representatives of Japan-India Association in Tokyo. He highlighted various measures taken by the government to improve the overall investment climate in India. MoS also encouraged them to be part of the growth story and expand their businesses.


MoS Muraleedharan in Tokyo, discussed ways to enhance cooperation on key aspects of India-Japan economic partnership and strengthen ties between India and Japan with Parliamentary Vice Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Taku Ishii in Tokyo on November 8.

Mr. Muraleedharan on November 8 visited one of Japan’s oldest and most revered temples and a symbol of Japan's rich historical and cultural heritage Senso-ji.

Its ties to Buddhism, echo the deep-rooted connections between India and Japan, MoS Muraleedharan further said.

During his visit to Japan, MoS Muraleedharan interacted with the vibrant Indian community in Tokyo on November 8.

Mr. Muraleedharan said on X that members of the Indian community are playing an important role in furthering bilateral ties between India and Japan.

MoS also launched India-Japan Youth Network aiming to establish strong links between youth of both countries.

On November 8, he also interacted with the team of Embassy of India in Japan and Republic of Marshall Islands in Tokyo and urged them to continue their efforts to deepen bilateral relationship between India and Japan and ensure welfare and wellbeing of the Indian community in Japan.

Today (November 9), MoS visited Otani University in Kyoto and interacted with President of the University Professor Ichiraku Makoto. MoS thanked him for his warm welcome.

MoS also appreciated the university's contribution to academic research in the areas of Buddhist philosophy and inter-cultural studies.


MoS offered prayers to Kannon Reijo, deity of great mercy and compassion at the Kiyomizu-Dera Temple in Mt. Otowa at Kyoto in Japan today.

MoS said this UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site's serene and spiritual atmosphere would be deeply felt by any visitor.

Today, MoS met Mayor of Kyoto Daisaku Kadokawa in Kyoto and thanked him for his strong support to the promotion of cultural ties between Kyoto and India.

On November 9, MoS paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the Peace Promenade in Hiroshima and said Bapu's message of compassion and non-violence finds strong resonance today.

MoS also offered his homage to the victims at Hiroshima Peace Memorial today.

Earlier on November 7, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had said in its statement that India and Japan share a 'Special Strategic and Global Partnership' covering a wide range of areas of cooperation. MoS's visit is expected to further solidify the wide-ranging partnership between the two countries.
