New Delhi/France: French President Emmanuel Macron on December 22 accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to be the Chief Guest of the 75th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2024. 

President Emmanuel Macron also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his invitation. President Macron said he will be there to celebrate Republic Day.

President of France Emmanuel Macron will arrive in India as the Chief Guest for the 75th Republic Day celebrations.

Mr. President is arriving here at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Releasing the press statement on December 22, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India said: "At the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of France, will be visiting India as the Chief Guest for the 75th Republic Day celebrations."

Accepting the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of France Emmanuel Macron said he is arriving in India to celebrate Indian Republic Day and thanked Prime Minister for his honour as the Chief Guest. 

Thanking to the Prime Minister, President of France Emmanuel Macron wrote on X: 

"Thank you for your invitation, my dear friend @NarendraModi. India, on your Republic Day, I’ll be here to celebrate with you!"


The Embassy of France in India also took X to post about the President's visit: 

"President @EmmanuelMacron has accepted Prime Minister @narendramodi’s invitation to be the Chief Guest of the 75th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2024."

"As Strategic Partners, India and France share a high degree of convergence on a range of regional and global issues. This year, we are celebrating the 25th 

anniversary of the India-France Strategic Partnership", the MEA said.

Prime Minister was the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Parade held on 14 July 2023 in Paris. President Macron visited India for the G-20 Summit on 9-10 September 2023.

Relations between India and France have traditionally been close and friendly.
